I made my first loaf of sourdough bread from watching Mike Greenfields Youtube video about 15 mistakes people make when making sourdough bread. I learned so much and made bread ever since. Then Sourdough U came along and I took it as well and am so grateful for it. I continue to make sourdough bread at home and have enrolled in other classes of his as well. I tell my friends and family to do it also because he has such a unique and thorough way of teaching. I can’t say enough good things about the class.
My sourdough making days began by watching and following Mike on YouTube, followed by taking the course. I’ve been at it for almost 5 yrs and haven’t had a failure yet. I am using a sprouted glyphosate free whole wheat flour from Canada which handles differently than all purpose flour but I have figured out a 50/50 mix of it with organic white flour works best. I just have to be more gentle with the slap and fold part. I have taken his recommendations on helpful equipment to use. At first I literally followed him step by step with the video on my laptop placed on the kitchen counter but now can do it in my sleep. I absolutely LOVE creating an amazing bread with so few ingredients. And my family and friends love it too. Sourdough bread is easy on my digestion too.
Mike’s class was my first attempt at sourdough bread. I had a lot to learn and this was a great stepping stone. From technique to texture, to understanding what was happening and why, my loaves of bread got better and easier to make. I have lost count on the number of loaves but getting a good crumb and crunch to each loaf is fun, and the anticipation and the aroma of the loaves as they bake is very rewarding. The effort is well worth the process. You won’t regret it and it is a great learning process.
Excellent course designed as though you were being privately tutored by a good friend. I was able to adapt the starter to several different recipes with much success. He offers all the info on what to do and what to watch for, step by step. Kudos!
This was an excellent way to learn how to make soughdough bread. It was easy to follow and I have had 100% success following the instructions in this video. I feel I got my money’s worth and my confidence in making this bread is at a maximum.
This is a first rate course. I am not a person who likes kneading dough for ten minutes and the stretch and fold technique of sourdough suits my temperament. This course walks through every aspect and the videos are excellent. While Mike is baking in New York and I am in Melbourne there is sufficient explanation to enable me to appreciate the nuance of sourdough baking. I’m still baking about five years later.
I took Mike’s class as soon as it came out. I’m still using his recipes. I’m make sourdough almost once a week. Highly recommend any newbie wanting to start their sourdough adventure.
This really got me started on my sourdough journey. I learned so much. Parts of it were a little long, but hey you do learn a lot. I’m doing my own thing with my sourdough now, but that gave me a fantastic start.
I took this course when it was new. It gave me the confidence to really get into bread baking. Also, Having the right tools (I bought tools that were recommended) made a huge difference. I usually make Einkorn bread these days, and it is a little trickier (stickier) than other flour, and what I learned in this course made it much easier to deal with.
This is a great course. I’d been making sourdough for a little while following some free videos but this course improved my bread immensely.
It was always a treat to open the Dutch oven and see what the loaves looked like, always a sense of achievement (well, almost nearly always!)
